Application
Cut internal threads in pre-drilled holes using a controlled machine process.
Use a machine tap holder, collet system, or tapping attachment suited to the tap shank and drive.
Spiral flute geometry is commonly selected for blind holes because chips are drawn back along the flutes.
Process: manual driving or assisted driving depending on your holder and machine setup.
Use: thread cutting, re tapping, and thread cleaning depending on condition.
Note Use cutting fluid suited to the workpiece material and keep the tool clean and protected after use
Supports predictable lead-in when you align the tool to the hole axis
Helps you achieve repeatable internal thread form in workshop conditions
Enables controlled chip transport when cutting fluid and reversal are managed
Reduces risk of cross-threading when the tool is started square
Helps you maintain process control across single parts and small batches
Limited suitability for very hard materials unless a dedicated execution is specified
Not suitable for uncontrolled hand tapping without a guided holder
Confirm the thread designation and ensure the workpiece hole is prepared and free of burrs.
Secure the workpiece so the hole axis is stable during the tapping cycle.
Mount the tap in a suitable machine tap holder and check that the tool runs true.
Apply cutting fluid suited to the workpiece material.
Align the tool to the hole axis before you start the tapping cycle.
Run the tapping cycle with controlled feed and observe chip evacuation.
Withdraw and clear chips when needed so chips do not pack in the flutes.
Clean the thread and the tool, then protect the cutting edges for storage.
